Retro Studios’ mysterious new project has been unveiled as a new entry in the Donkey Kong Country series, entitled Tropical Freeze.
A sequel to the critically acclaimed Wii platformer, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Tropical Freeze tells the tale of Donkey Kong Island being overrun by a hoard of vicious Vikings from the North Sea.
The game remains faithful to the side-scrolling platforming of its predecessor but implements full HD graphics and the use of new dynamic camera angles.
Additionally Dixie Kong has been added as a playable character and can use her pony tail to fly for brief periods, further expanding gameplay possibilities.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will launch towards the end of the year, exclusively on Nintendo Wii U.
